Tokat-Water Street-Latifoğlu Mansion-Gök Medrese-Taşhan-Ulu Mosque-Ballıca Cave
After our journey, we arrive in Tokat, the city where Julius Caesar, the famous Roman emperor, first uttered the words “Veni, Vidi, Vici” (“I came, I saw, I conquered”). Since Tokat is on the Silk Road, we begin our city tour by visiting SULU SOKAK, located in the city’s historic торгові center. In Tokat city center, we also visit the LATİFOĞLU MANSION, famous for its woodwork and penwork, and the GÖK MEDRESE, one of the unique works of Anatolian Seljuk architecture (if restoration work is completed). Afterwards, we take a lunch break to taste Tokat Kebab. Following our local lunch, we visit TAŞHAN and ULU CAMİ, and during this time, in the historic bazaars, we frequently come across motifs on manuscripts featuring the region’s abundance of fruit and plants, such as apples, grapes, and cherries, along with flower and plant designs. During the suitable shopping breaks given by our guide, we have the opportunity to shop in the historic inns for local Tokat products and handicrafts such as Tokat leaf, block-printed textiles, dried sausage, Zile molasses, rosehip marmalade, and copperware. We then continue our tour by heading to BALLICA CAVE, located in Ballıca Village in the Pazar district. Situated on a hill at an altitude of 1,085 meters, the cave is considered one of the largest and most magnificent caves in the world. After completing our cave visit, where we will see its stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years, we set off for Amasya. Accommodation and dinner are in Amasya. Amasya-Borabay Lake-Ferhat and Şirin Lovers Museum-Saraydüzü Winter Barracks-Kunç Bridge-Bimarhane-Şehzadeler Museum-Amasya Archaeology Museum-Yeşilırmak Boat Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for BORABAY LAKE, a true corner of paradise in Amasya’s Taşova district. Surrounded by stunning scenery, we give free time for a stroll by the lake and photo opportunities. In Amasya, where lush nature and historical beauty meet, we first visit the FERHAT and ŞİRİN WATER CHANNELS, believed to date back to the Hellenistic period and, according to legend, created by Ferhat by carving through the mountains to reach Şirin. After hearing their stories from our guide and taking a photo break, we visit the FERHAT and ŞİRİN LOVERS MUSEUM, the first and only Lovers Museum in Turkey. The museum presents Anatolian, beloved, and divine love themes through models, lights, and music. Next, we visit the SARAYDÜZÜ BARRACKS, which hosted Mustafa Kemal and his companions when they arrived in Amasya on June 12, 1919, and where the Amasya Circular was discussed and drafted. Used as the National Struggle Museum, the barracks building contains wax figures of Mustafa Kemal and his comrades-in-arms, as well as period items, photographs, weapons, and documents. Then we see the KUNÇ BRIDGE, built by Hundi Hatun, daughter of Seljuk ruler Sultan Mesud, and BİMARHANE (Darüşşifa), the only surviving structure built in 1308–1309 by Anber Bin Abdullah in the name of Ilkhanid ruler Sultan Mehmet Olcaytu and his wife Uduz Hatun. We then begin our walking tour on THE PRINCES’ ROUTE. After viewing the cumbalı YALI BOYU HOUSES extending out over the Yeşilırmak River, the CLOCK TOWER, HAZİRANLAR MANSION, and ROCK TOMBS panoramically, we take a lunch break. After the meal, we visit the PRINCES MUSEUM, which attracts attention with statues made from authentic portraits of Ottoman sultans who spent their youth in Amasya as princes, along with costumes reflecting their respective periods. From there, we continue to our next sightseeing points: the SULTAN II BAYEZID COMPLEX, built in 1485 in the name of Sultan Bayezid II and consisting of a mosque, madrasa, imaret, tomb, fountain, and public fountain; the MINIATURE AMASYA MUSEUM, a historical city model inspired by a photograph taken in 1914; and the AMASYA ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM, which houses archaeological and ethnographic artifacts as well as mummies from the Ilkhanid period, all accompanied by our guide’s explanations. We complete our Amasya tour and are given free time in Amasya’s bazaar. During this time, guests who wish may enjoy an EXTRA boat tour on the Yeşilırmak. We then head to our hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Çorum-Hattusha-Ankara
After having our breakfast, we head to Alacahöyük, located within the provincial borders of Çorum, where the dam dedicated to the Goddess Hepat and dated to around 1240 BC is also found. After seeing the Sphinx Gate, built with andesite blocks on a limestone foundation, the Royal Tombs of the Early Bronze Age, and the Monumental Sphinxes at Alacahöyük, which was an important cultural and artistic center of the Hittites, we leave Alacahöyük and head toward the Hattuşa Ancient City and go to Boğazkale District. Hattuşa (Çorum, Boğazköy), which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, has been an extremely important center in Anatolia for centuries as the capital of the Hittite Empire. We tour Hattuşa, the capital of the ancient Hittite Empire, which ruled from the 17th to the 13th centuries BC, the city where the Hittites, who seized the Hatti principalities during the Bronze Age and established the first state with central authority in Anatolia, challenged the powerful Egyptian army in 1270 BC and signed the Treaty of Kadesh, and which was later destroyed around 1200 BC by the Sea Peoples Migration. Listening to our guide’s explanations, we continue our tour and visit the Yazılıkaya Open-Air Temple, where they fulfilled their religious practices for the god Tutaliya and other gods, and where the symbols of each god are found. Afterwards, we arrive in Çorum, our famous city known for its leblebi, and visit the Çorum Museum, one of our country’s important museums featuring Hittite artifacts. Then we proceed to Ankara.
